Educational Websites

Home About Me The classroom Letters to Molly

Computers are an excellent tool for learning!  Having issues finding sites, I have decided to put a site to help organize the sites!  I also struggle with some computers at our school not having Java, or Shockwave players so I will try to make sure I put what are the requirements for the online games to be played.

Website Summary System requirements

www.starfall.com

This is an excellent website! It has various levels. Just beginning to learn letters, beginning to read, and already reading. The site is easy to navigate for children.  Adobe Flashplayer

www.sesamestreet.org

OK my first opinion was that this site was for younger children but boy was I wrong! This site works with rhyming, and phonics.  This site covers a variety of ages.  This site is also appropriate for younger children also.  shockwave

www.abcya.com

Excellent Site!!!  For children K-5. Match the lower and capital letters.  And many more! Plus the site is divided into grade levels.  Which makes it easy for children to move around and to make sure the kids play age appropriate games.

Site has it all!  It is even broke down into the appropriate ages for the games.  This site has games from other sites but they are all organized into the age levels. Depends on the game you click on.

Haven't really played to much with this site.  This site does have the games organized into math, language, geography, science, etc. but once you click it doesn't have the sites organized into the age groups.  It does have a preschool age tab.

http://www.funbrain.com/

Another site that has things itemized by subject.  I think you can also work by age or grade level.

www.pbskids.org

This site is for younger children (Pre-K)  it works with identifying shapes.  It is also great because it has characters that the children are familiar with.

Science and Social Studies Games

Website Summary System requirements
http://www.smithsonianeducation.org/students/idealabs/smithsonian_kids.html Probably more suitable for older children.  Not really games but has different facts about different items.  The children should be able to read the facts.  Macromedia Flashplayer
www.enchantedlearning.com This is a fun site.  It has a little bit of everything.  The site is not an interactive game type of site but has a lot of information to use!
